Club History

Born in 1968 from the merger of Fortuna 54 and Sittardia, Fortuna Sittard hail from Limburg in the south-east. In the 1990s, their renowned academy produced Mark van Bommel, Fernando Ricksen, and Kevin Hofland — all future Netherlands internationals.

Financial difficulties brought dark years, but Fortuna returned to the Eredivisie in 2017 and have maintained their top-flight status for eight consecutive seasons.

Playing Style

Danny Buijs, appointed in 2023, brings an energetic 4-3-3 approach honed during his time at FC Groningen. Ex-Barcelona midfielder Alen Halilovic provides creative spark in midfield.

Fortuna Sittard Stadion

Opened in 1999 as a replacement for the old De Baandert, the 12,500-capacity stadium provides a compact, welcoming home in southern Limburg.
