- This is a genuine relegation six-pointer. Bottom-placed ADO Den Haag have one point from six games (0W 1D 5L, -10 goal difference) and host 15th-placed Cambuur, who sit on four points with a -9 difference. Only Willem II (2 points) and PEC Zwolle (4 points from seven) separate them, a world away from PSV and AZ, who share top spot on 16. The sides have not met yet this season.
- ADO have shipped 16 goals while scoring just six. Their only point came on matchday four, a 2-2 draw away at Feyenoord. At home they lost 4-1 to Groningen in round two and 3-2 to Fortuna Sittard in round five, and they arrive off a 2-0 defeat at Twente. A first home win of the campaign would change the mood completely.
- Cambuur endured a brutal opening spell: 3-1 down at Fortuna Sittard, 5-2 at home to Feyenoord and 4-1 at home to Twente. Then came a 2-2 draw at Telstar in round five and a 3-0 home win over NEC Nijmegen in round six, their first victory of the season. The question is whether that upturn travels.
- There is a reunion on the visiting bench. Jamal Amofa, 27, played Eredivisie football for ADO Den Haag before spells with GO Ahead Eagles and Botev Plovdiv. Now the oldest player in Cambuur's squad and their captain, the 185cm centre-back is the reference point for a very young defence and waits for his call at a former home ground.
- Tactically it is ADO's 4-4-2 against Cambuur's 4-2-3-1. The hosts field a physical front pair: 193cm Yannick Fereira Eduardo (20, Czech Republic), schooled at RB Leipzig and Hoffenheim before senior minutes at Emmen and Dordrecht, alongside 182cm Evan Rottier (24, Netherlands), who came via FC Oss and FC Eindhoven. Aerial threat is the plan.
- Cambuur's back four is strikingly young. Left-footed 190cm centre-back Billy van Duijl (20) came through Volendam's academy, Ismael Baouf (20) was developed at Anderlecht and Charleroi, and Morgan Costarelli (21, 170cm) is a Lille academy product. Only Devid Bouah (25, 183cm), raised in Roma's youth system, offers real seniority against that ADO height advantage.
- The midfields are built differently too. ADO pair Matej Sin (22, CAM), a Czech youth international at every level from U-16 to U-20, with Finland's Juho Kilo (24), who began his career at Haka, and use Jalen Hawkins (25, born in the United States, with Ingolstadt and Saarbrucken behind him) and Nigel Thomas (25, Curacao) wide. Cambuur counter with a double pivot anchored by Nicky Souren (26), hardened at MVV and Roda.
- The benches tell opposite stories. ADO can call on 36-year-old Daryl van Mieghem (170cm), a veteran of Volendam, Heracles, Excelsior and Telstar, and 19-year-old Jesse Bal, who wears the No. 9 after a Sparta Rotterdam upbringing and a loan spell at Parma in early 2025, with ex-VfL Bochum goalkeeper Niclas Thiede (27, Germany) in reserve. Cambuur's replacements are almost all academy teenagers, including Jong Ajax product Skye Vink (20, No. 9) and 187cm Iwan Henstra (19).
