Match Preview
- ADO Den Haag sit 17th on three points from eight matches (0W-3D-5L, nine scored, 19 conceded, a goal difference of -10), just one point clear of bottom club Willem II. PSV arrive second on 19 points, a single point behind leaders Feyenoord and ahead of third-placed AZ only on goal difference (+16 to +10), so anything less than a win would be costly in the title race.
- The hosts are still chasing a first league victory, with a D-L-L-D-D run over their last five. They held leaders Feyenoord 2-2 away in round 4, drew 1-1 at home with Cambuur in round 7 and took a 2-2 at Telstar in round 8, but lost 2-3 at home to Fortuna Sittard in round 5 and were beaten 0-2 away at Twente in round 6.
- PSV have scored 26 goals and conceded 10 in eight matches. They won 6-1 away at Utrecht in round 4, 3-1 away at Ajax in round 5 and 4-1 at home against Sparta Rotterdam in round 6. Their only defeat came away to Twente (2-3) in round 7, and they answered it immediately by beating Heerenveen 2-0 at home in round 8.
- The shape battle is ADO's 5-3-2 against PSV's 4-2-3-1. The home back five is anchored by 189cm Matteo Waem and 186cm Lasse Wilhelm alongside Pascal Mulder, who climbed through the Dutch lower leagues, while Guinea-born Seku Sylla (27) supplies the running on the flank. PSV start two natural right-backs in Lutsharel Geertruida and Sergiño Dest, with Mauro Júnior — a left-back by trade and at the club since 2017 — dropping into the double pivot.
- Japan's Kodai Sano (23) starts in PSV's midfield. A central midfielder who moved from Fagiano Okayama to NEC Nijmegen before arriving in Eindhoven, he pairs ball-winning with clean distribution and played at a World Cup with Japan's U-20 side; his older brother Kaishu is at Mainz. Partnering Mauro Júnior in the pivot, he has to solve the numbers problem posed by ADO's three-man midfield.
- PSV's attacking band features Guus Til and Dennis Man. Til (28), a Netherlands international attacking midfielder, once left AZ for Spartak Moscow in an 18 million euro deal and also had spells at Freiburg and Feyenoord, marking his PSV debut against Ajax with a hat-trick. Man (28) is Romania's left-footed right winger, signed by Parma from FCSB for a national record 11 million euros, and helped his country top their group at EURO 2024.
- Leading the line is Sven Mijnans (26), an attacking midfielder by trade: 190cm, left-footed, a former Sparta Rotterdam and AZ man who likes to drop deep and link the play. Picking him up falls to Jan Žambůrek (25), the Czech who has passed through Brentford, Shrewsbury, Viborg and Heracles, and Finland's Juho Kilo (24), a Haka product prized for his work in the duels.
- ADO field two 20-year-olds up front. Number nine Jesse Bal came through Sparta Rotterdam's academy, spent the first half of 2025 on loan at Parma and signed permanently in August of that year. His partner Yannick Ferreira Eduardo is a 193cm Czech forward schooled at RB Leipzig and Hoffenheim who banked senior minutes at Emmen and Dordrecht. Armando Obispo (27), PSV's left-footed academy-raised centre-back, is the man reading the danger behind.
- Two PSV-linked players wait on the ADO bench. Miliano Jimenez (23) came through PSV and Jong PSV before a spell at Aalborg in Denmark; at 176cm he relies on close control and quick feet, and any minutes here would be a reunion with his old club. Nigel Thomas (25), the Curaçao-born attacker who has travelled through Viborg, Paços de Ferreira and Nacional, also has Jong PSV on his CV.
- PSV can turn to 37-year-old Ivan Perišić off the bench. With 142 caps and 33 goals for Croatia and a goal in the 2018 World Cup final, he brings experience gathered at Inter, Bayern Munich, Tottenham and Borussia Dortmund. Beside him sits Esmir Bajraktarević (21), the American-born right winger who opted for Bosnia and Herzegovina and whose one-on-one dribbling gives the visitors another late option.
