Club History

Founded in 1900 as Nijmegensche Eendracht Combinatie, NEC are one of the oldest clubs in the Netherlands. The 2025-26 season marks the 125th anniversary of the club, celebrated with four different crests and seven kit designs throughout the campaign.

Though NEC have never won the league, they claimed the 1962 KNVB Cup and have been a steady Eredivisie presence. Under former manager Rogier Meijer, the club grew significantly, reaching the European playoffs in 2024-25.

Playing Style

Dick Schreuder was appointed in summer 2025 on a contract through 2028. Known for player development and tactical flexibility, he has maintained the counter-attacking base while adding a more progressive attacking dimension.

Shrewd recruitment brought in experienced figures like goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen and forward Tjaronn Chery to complement the existing core.

De Goffert

Opened in 1939 by Prince Bernhard, the Goffertstadion was hand-dug during the economic crisis of the 1930s. NEC moved in permanently after their original ground was damaged during World War II. Current capacity stands at approximately 12,500.
