Club History

Founded in 1923 in the Galician port city of Vigo, Celta carry the pride of northwestern Spain. While a La Liga title has eluded them, they reached the Champions League quarter-finals in the early 2000s and have long been a respected force in Spanish football.

Iago Aspas embodies the spirit of the club. The Vigo-born striker captained the team to Europa League qualification in 2024-25, and his loyalty to his hometown club epitomises the bond between Celta and their city.

Return to European Football

Their 7th-place finish in 2024-25 earned Europa League qualification. Under manager Claudio Giraldez, Celta have pursued an attacking, pass-oriented style that has produced exciting football. In the 2025-26 Europa League, they reached the quarter-finals.
