Founded in 1983 in the Madrid suburb of Getafe, this relatively young club first reached La Liga in 2004. Since then, they have established themselves as perennial overachievers, punching well above their weight on a modest budget. Their 5th-place finish in 2018-19, which earned Europa League qualification, remains the club's greatest achievement.
The Coliseum (capacity 17,393) is one of La Liga's smallest stadiums. Built in 1998, it is currently undergoing a major renovation that began in June 2025.
Manager Jose Bordalas is synonymous with Getafe. His intense pressing and physically demanding style has drawn criticism from purists, but his ability to extract results from limited squads is unrivalled. He sits alongside Simeone, Pellegrini, and Valverde as one of La Liga's longest-serving managers.
