Club History

Founded in 1930 in the Catalan city of Girona, the club spent decades in the lower divisions before City Football Group (CFG) investment transformed their trajectory. CFG, the parent company of Manchester City, holds the largest stake, with Pep Guardiola's brother Pere also among the shareholders.

In 2023-24, they achieved a historic 3rd-place La Liga finish, qualifying for the Champions League for the first time. A city of around 100,000 reaching European football's summit sent shockwaves through Spanish football.

Michel's Project

Manager Michel engineered the 2023 breakthrough and continues to leverage the CFG network, integrating loan players from Manchester City and other clubs. For 2025-26, Marc-Andre ter Stegen (loan from Barcelona) and Claudio Echeverri (loan from Manchester City) have added considerable quality to the squad.
