Match Preview
- Osasuna sit eighth with four points from two matches (1W 1D, +1), while Getafe are 13th on three points (1W 1L, -2). Both sides have a game in hand on most of the division and trail leaders Real Madrid, who have nine points from three outings. Osasuna are still unbeaten and can build a platform at El Sadar; Getafe, one point behind, can leapfrog their hosts with a win.
- Osasuna opened with a 2-1 win away at Celta Vigo before a 0-0 home draw against Levante. Two goals scored and one conceded across 180 minutes tells you where their points are coming from: defensive control rather than firepower. Having drawn a blank at El Sadar last time out, much of the creative burden falls on 24-year-old No.10 Aimar Oroz, a Navarre-born academy graduate whose through balls and long-range shooting drive the attack.
- Getafe were beaten 3-0 at Alaves on the opening weekend, then steadied themselves with a 1-0 home win over promoted Racing Santander. One goal scored and three conceded, a minus-two difference after two games, points to a team that either grinds out narrow wins or comes apart entirely. Back-to-back victories would settle their early season in a hurry.
- Both managers set up in a 4-4-2, so the central midfield exchange should decide who dictates the tempo. Osasuna pair 28-year-old academy product Moncayola, whose 189cm frame helps his ball-winning and driving carries, with 23-year-old Iker Munoz. Getafe hold the base through Belgium international Orel Mangala, a Borussia Dortmund academy graduate with Stuttgart and Nottingham Forest on his CV, alongside 24-year-old Francho Serrano, raised at Real Zaragoza.
- Moi Gomez faces a former club. The 32-year-old, a Europa League winner with Villarreal who also spent time at Getafe, gives Osasuna sharp technique in tight spaces and precise final balls out wide. His flank duel is with Getafe's 35-year-old right back Kiko Femenia, a rare graduate of both Barcelona B and Real Madrid Castilla who then spent five seasons at Watford in the Premier League.
- Juan Mojica returns to a former home. The 34-year-old Colombia international left back was previously on loan at Osasuna and brings mileage from Mallorca, Villarreal, Atalanta and Girona, plus overlapping runs and reliable crossing. Directly opposite him is 21-year-old academy right back Inigo Arguibide, making this a 13-year age gap on that touchline.
- Aerial quality could decide the margins. Osasuna build around 190cm Croatia international Ante Budimir, 35, left-footed and dangerous both in the air and as a target man, while Getafe field 190cm Uruguayan Martin Satriano, an Inter academy product with loan spells at Brest and Empoli. Behind them stand 194cm Catena, who helped Rayo Vallecano win promotion and scores from set pieces, and 193cm left-footed Zakaria Romero.
- Getafe need goals, and Enes Unal starts alongside Satriano to find them. The 29-year-old Turkey international has Manchester City, Villarreal and Bournemouth on his CV and scored 34 goals in 104 appearances for Getafe. Borja Mayoral, 29, a Real Madrid academy graduate with Roma and Wolfsburg behind him, waits on the bench as the late card for a side with a single league goal so far.
- Two 192cm veterans occupy the goals. Osasuna's Sergio Herrera, 33, came through Huesca and Alaves before establishing himself as the club's long-serving No.1, and is dependable dealing with crosses. Getafe's David Soria, also 33, won the Europa League during his Sevilla days and remains a strong shot-stopper. Osasuna have conceded once in two games, Getafe three.
- Osasuna's bench carries its own reunion angle. Diego Rico, 33, is a former Getafe left back who later played for Bournemouth and Real Sociedad, and his left-footed delivery makes him a set-piece option late on. Raul Moro, 31, who has been at Lazio and Ajax, and 192cm Raul Garcia, 25, a Copa del Rey winner with Real Betis, round out a bench with answers whether the hosts are protecting a lead or chasing one.
