Match Preview
- Barcelona arrive in Seville as the only unbeaten side in the division: six wins from six, 18 points and a goal difference of +22. Sevilla sit fifth on 13 points from four wins, a draw and a defeat, level on points with Atlético Madrid but behind on goal difference (+3 to +8). Five points separate the hosts from the summit, and Sevilla's only loss this season came at home to that same Atlético side.
- The visitors' attacking output has been extraordinary: 28 goals in six league games. They beat Rayo Vallecano 5-2 at home in round three, won 5-0 at Valencia, 4-2 at Levante and then hammered Racing Santander 7-2 in round six. That is four or more goals in each of their last four outings, and they have conceded just six all season.
- Sevilla's profile is the mirror image — nine scored, six conceded, and a knack for winning tight matches. Back-to-back 1-0 clean sheets, at home to Valencia and away at Deportivo La Coruña, carried them into fifth. A 3-1 win at Athletic Club in round two also showed they can wound strong opposition away from home.
- Tactically it is Sevilla's 4-2-3-1 against Barcelona's 4-3-3. The hosts' double pivot pairs Lucien Agoumé, the 24-year-old Frenchman signed from Inter whose strengths are ball recovery and distribution from deep, with Georgia international Giorgi Kochorashvili, who joined from Sporting CP in August 2026 on a contract to 2030. Their running and duelling must interrupt the supply from Rodri, the 191cm 2024 Ballon d'Or winner anchoring Barcelona's midfield.
- Lamine Yamal, 19, starts on the right as an inverted winger whose left foot creates both cut-in shots and through balls. He debuted for the first team at 15 and broke the record for the youngest player at a European Championship in 2024. Marking him is Sevilla left-back Gabriel Suazo, the 29-year-old Chile international who captained Colo-Colo and lifted the Coupe de France with Toulouse.
- Height is the foundation of Sevilla's back line. Andrés Castrín, 23 and 188cm, who turned professional at CD Lugo, partners 189cm Senegalese centre-back Arouna Sangante, who was handed the Le Havre captaincy at 21 and made 36 appearances in their Ligue 2 title-winning promotion campaign. Ahead of them, 22-year-old Scot Robby Ure (189cm) leads the line against Barcelona's 19-year-old defender Pau Cubarsí.
- Both benches carry reunions. Jules Koundé, the 27-year-old France defender who won the Europa League with Sevilla after arriving from Bordeaux, is among Barcelona's substitutes and can cover either right-back or centre-back with his one-v-one defending. Sevilla, for their part, have 23-year-old Peque Fernández available — a 172cm La Masia graduate who reached the Andalusian club via Racing Santander and could be sent on against the club that developed him.
- The goalkeeping matchup is worth the ticket. Sevilla start 32-year-old Greek Odysseas Vlachodimos, who played Champions League football at Benfica and was first choice at Stuttgart and Panathinaikos. Barcelona turn to Dominik Livaković, capped 75 times by Croatia and the man who saved three penalties in the 2022 World Cup shootout against Japan, with 36-year-old Wojciech Szczęsny waiting behind him.
- Squad depth could settle it. Barcelona's bench includes Dani Olmo, 28, top scorer at EURO 2024 and formerly of RB Leipzig; Gabriel Jesus, 29, shaped by Palmeiras and Manchester City; and Karim Adeyemi, 24, the sprinter developed at Red Bull Salzburg and Borussia Dortmund. Sevilla's trump card is Nigeria winger Chidera Ejuke, 28, who made his name against Barcelona in the Champions League during his CSKA Moscow spell.
