FC Metz
Club History
Founded in 1932, Metz are based in the Lorraine region near the German border, giving them a distinctive cross-cultural identity. They have won the Coupe de France twice (1984, 1988) and the Coupe de la Ligue once (1986).
Known as an "elevator club" for their frequent movement between divisions, Metz were relegated in 2023-24 but won the Ligue 2 playoff to return to the top flight after just one season.
Stade Saint-Symphorien
Opened in 1923, Stade Saint-Symphorien holds 25,636 and sits beside the Moselle river, close to the iconic Metz Cathedral. Over a century of renovations have kept it modern while preserving its historic character.
