Founded in 1992, Chelsea Women rose to dominance under Emma Hayes, who took charge in 2012 and built the most successful era in the club's history. Under Hayes, Chelsea won the WSL eight times, including six consecutive titles, along with multiple FA Cups and League Cups.
The team plays at Kingsmeadow (capacity 4,850) in Kingston upon Thames, purchased by Chelsea FC from AFC Wimbledon in 2016. Selected high-profile fixtures are held at Stamford Bridge.
When Emma Hayes departed for the US Women's National Team in summer 2024, Sonia Bompastor arrived from Lyon. In her debut season, she delivered an unprecedented domestic treble -- the WSL, FA Cup, and League Cup -- while going unbeaten across all three competitions.
Chelsea's WSL campaign saw them accumulate a record-breaking 60 points from 22 matches (19W 3D 0L), becoming the first English women's team to complete an unbeaten league season since 2000-01. Bompastor has since extended her contract through 2030.
