Match Preview
- A Manchester derby between league leaders Manchester City (46 pts) and second-placed Manchester United (38 pts). The gap is a sizeable eight points, but a City win would bring the title much closer, while a United win would blow the title race wide open.
- The previous meeting in this season's Matchday 9 at City's home ended in a 3-0 City win. For United it was one of only two defeats all season, fuelling their desire for home revenge.
- United's Hinata Miyazawa was the 2023 Women's World Cup Golden Boot winner. She drives the attack with pace and technique from the right. The matchup with City's left-back Leila Ouahabi is one of the highlights.
- City have four Nadeshiko Japan players: Yui Hasegawa, Aoba Fujino, Ayaka Yamashita and Aoba Oyama. Japan captain Hasegawa controls midfield as an anchor, while Fujino takes players on from the left. A glamorous derby in which as many as five Japanese players could be on the pitch.
- United's Jess Park moved from City in the summer of 2025, making this a reunion. On the City side, Alex Greenwood and Grace Clinton are former United players, giving both teams a personal edge in the meeting.
- City's front two of Khadija Shaw and Vivianne Miedema are among the WSL's finest of all time and pose a serious threat. United want to contain them with their centre-back pairing of Maya Le Tissier and Dominique Janssen. Le Tissier is a young leader captaining the side at 22, while Janssen has experience as Netherlands captain.
- United's winter signings have added depth, including Melvine Malard (a four-time Champions League winner with Lyon) and Lea Schuller (a Bundesliga top scorer with Bayern). How United counter City's dominant front line is the key.
- City attack with strong wing play, Lauren Hemp controlling the left and Kerolin cutting in from the right. Whether United's full-backs Gabby George and Anna Sandberg win the wide battles will decide the match.
- United are in good form with three wins and one draw in their last four league games. With a stable run of 11 unbeaten (within an 18-game stretch of five wins, five draws and one loss), they have the momentum to deny City a clean run at the title.
