Match Preview
- Three Japan internationals share the pitch here. Spurs start 21-year-old right winger Maika Hamano and 20-year-old centre-back Toko Koga, while Manchester United field Hinata Miyazawa, the Golden Boot winner at the 2023 Women's World Cup. Team-mates for their country, they line up on opposite sides in the WSL.
- Hamano arrived at Tottenham on loan from Chelsea after coming through Cerezo Osaka Sakai and INAC Kobe Leonessa. She swept both the Golden Ball and Silver Boot at the U-20 Women's World Cup, then scored the winner in the 2026 AFC Women's Asian Cup final to hand Japan the title. Her running from the right flank is one of Spurs' sharpest weapons.
- Koga became the youngest scorer in Tottenham's history at 19 and is still only 20. Signed from Feyenoord in July 2025, she started all four matches for Japan at the Paris 2024 Olympics and combines aerial strength at 173cm with composed build-up play. Her duel with Lea Schüller, the same height and a former Bundesliga top scorer at Bayern Munich, sits at the heart of this fixture.
- At 157cm, Miyazawa relies on acceleration and close control to cut through defensive lines, and she was named Player of the Match after a stunning strike in this season's Manchester derby. Tracking her down the right will be Amanda Nildén, the Sweden left-back who joined from Juventus in 2024 and brings Euro 2022 experience plus genuine physical bite to the duel.
- The goalkeeping contrast is striking. United's Phallon Tullis-Joyce stands 185cm, shared the WSL Golden Glove in 2024-25 and kept 13 clean sheets in that campaign. Tottenham counter with Netherlands international Lize Kop, a compact 173cm keeper whose reflexes and positioning were honed at Ajax and Leicester City.
- United's recruitment has been relentlessly international. Jess Park, a Euro 2025 winner with England, arrived from Manchester City on a four-year deal in September 2025; Schüller followed from Bayern in December; and 23-year-old Hanna Lundkvist joined from San Diego Wave in January 2026 after spells at Real Madrid and Linköping. All three start.
- Tottenham's attack is unmistakably Scandinavian. Julie Blakstad, a left-footed Norway international signed in January 2026, once moved to Manchester City for a record fee for a Norwegian player. Alongside her are Sweden's Matilda Vinberg, a senior debutant at 15, 21-year-old Norwegian striker Katinka Tandberg from Hammarby, and Denmark's Olivia Holt, scorer of 25 goals in 47 games at Rosengård.
- United's back line pairs Maya Le Tissier, who took the captaincy at 22, with Millie Turner, a 178cm defender who has been at the club since its 2018 foundation. The Guernsey-born skipper is rated among the best centre-backs in the WSL for her distribution and reading of the game, and her handling of Spurs' young forwards could settle the contest.
- Both benches carry serious weight. United can turn to academy graduate Ella Toone, a Euro 2022 winner and one of the league's sharpest attacking midfielders, and France forward Melvine Malard, a four-time Champions League winner with Lyon. Spurs answer with Eveliina Summanen, the Finland midfielder who holds the club's WSL assist record and signed a long-term deal in February 2026.
