Born in 1908 on the south bank of the Maas river, Feyenoord was built by and for the working class of Rotterdam's docklands. That blue-collar identity endures over a century later. With 16 Eredivisie titles and the distinction of being the first Dutch club to win the European Cup in 1970, Feyenoord are a pillar of Dutch football.

In 2022-23, Arne Slot ended an 18-year title drought. After Slot departed for Liverpool, Feyenoord have continued to compete as one of the country's "Big Three" alongside Ajax and PSV.

Robin van Persie, appointed in March 2025 after a spell at Heerenveen, is a club icon stepping into his first major managerial role at 42. The former Arsenal and Manchester United striker who scored 50 goals for the Netherlands brings an attacking vision shaped by his playing career.

Van Persie deploys a 4-2-3-1 with fluid 3-1-6 structures in sustained attacks. Few Eredivisie teams commit as many players forward, often pushing eight into or around the box. Defensively, his teams press high with man-oriented marking systems designed to suffocate opposition build-up.

De Kuip (officially Stadion Feijenoord) was completed in 1937 in just ten months. During World War II, it narrowly avoided demolition for scrap metal. The 1994 renovation converted it to an all-seater with 51,117 capacity.

Plans for a new stadium have surfaced and collapsed multiple times over the decades. For now, the historic "bathtub" (De Kuip translates to "the tub") remains Rotterdam's most iconic sporting venue.
