Founded in 1909 in Valencia, Levante have long lived in the shadow of Valencia CF but have built a loyal following at the Ciutat de Valencia (capacity 26,354). Known as "Los Granotas" (The Frogs), their green and red stripes are distinctive.

After seven consecutive La Liga seasons in the 2010s established stability, relegation in 2022 disrupted progress. They won Segunda Division in 2024-25, securing promotion on 25 May 2025 with a 3-2 victory over Burgos — a three-year absence from the top flight ended.

The "Valencia Derby" against Valencia CF is one of La Liga's most unique encounters. Despite sharing a city, Levante maintain a working-class community identity. The return to La Liga has revived this fixture, creating one of the season's most anticipated local events.
