Founded in 1906 in Strasbourg, where French and German cultures intersect, the club possesses a unique Alsatian identity. They have won one league title (1979) and three Coupe de France trophies.
In 2023, BlueCo — Todd Boehly's consortium that owns Chelsea — acquired the club, integrating Strasbourg into a multi-club network. Player loans and coaching exchanges with Chelsea have become a central part of operations.
As Chelsea's sister club, Strasbourg serve as a development hub for young talent. Multiple Chelsea loanees feature in the squad, and in January 2026, manager Liam Rosenior departed to become Chelsea's head coach — replaced by former Wolves and Bournemouth boss Gary O'Neil.
However, the rapid expansion has come at a cost: BlueCo reported losses of approximately €78.3M at Strasbourg, highlighting the financial challenges of the multi-club model.
