Hossam Hassan's Egypt announced their final 26 on May 29 (trimmed from a 27-man preliminary on May 20). This is Egypt's first World Cup since Russia 2018 — captain Mohamed Salah, at 33, is in for likely his second and final World Cup.

Spine: Mohamed Salah (Liverpool, 67 goals for Egypt), Omar Marmoush (Manchester City, joined January 2025), Trézéguet (Al Ahly, ex-Aston Villa). Eight players come from Al Ahly with multiple CAF titles, supplemented by European-based talents like Mohamed Abdelmonem (Nice) and Karim Hafez (ex-Lens).

Group G opponents: Belgium, New Zealand and Iran. Opening against Belgium on June 15 in Seattle, with Egypt seeking a knockout berth via NZ (June 21) and Iran (June 26). The tournament is framed as Salah's likely final World Cup curtain.

LIKELY 4-3-3.

Hossam Hassan's preferred 4-3-3. Salah on the right, Trézéguet on the left, Marmoush at the No.9. Attia anchors with Ashour and Lasheen as 8s. CBs Abdelmonem and Rabia with Hany and Fatouh wide.

4-3-3 (predicted)
